Title: Senior Stylist Company: Shear Serenity Salon Social: @shearserenitysalonny / @jilliannmariann Where are you from, and why did you choose to become a stylist? I grew up in Nanuet, NY. I choose to become a stylist in high school because I always had a passion in hair. I was chosen for a program at BOCES Rockland, and decided to give it a chance. How did you end up working at Shear Serenity? I ended up working here when a friend from hair school worked here, but she was leaving to go to college. I got her position as an assistant straight out of high school, and been here ever since. What is your biggest accomplishment in your career so far? I think my biggest accomplishment so far is building up my clientele to what it is now, and feeling comfortable with my work that I provide for them. What is your favorite product right now, and how would you recommend to use it? My favorite product that I really love and always loved is the Loma Nourishing Oil Treatment. I use them on almost all my clients before blowing out their hair! It smooths out the hair nicely leaving no frizz, and it gives a great shine. Do you have an absolute favorite part of your profession? My favorite part of my profession is creating a look that my client comes in looking for. I love a fun before and after transformation, and seeing the clients reactions to their new look. What would be typical “you” outside of work? Hobbies, activities, etc.? Outside of work you can typically find me hanging out with my family, fiance, and friends. I love to both cook and go out to eat. Right now my life is occupied by planning our wedding!

Our salon celebrated 10 years in business on Sept. 5th 2016. We want to celebrate this milestone by giving back.
That is why we teamed up with Penguin Plunge NY, a non-profit organization that helps the families of seriously ill children in meeting their medical and support costs as they focus on their children's help. You can read about the children and their families a little further down the page. Celebrating our history of working with many local charities through the past 10 years, we are hosting a “Glam Up & Give Back” fundraising event at Knights Of Columbus, June 9th, 2017. We would appreciate your support. We would greatly welcome a donation of monetary gifts, products and/or services. Your donation will be raffled at the fundraiser to help raise funds for the 3 recipients of the Penguin Plunge. Any donations are tax deductible through Penguin Plunge 501(c)3, and we can provide their tax exempt # upon request. Your establishment will be recognized as a contributor and advertised in promotional flyers, social media and at the event. Please contact us at (845) 735-3900 or shearserenitysalonny@gmail.com, if you have any questions, comments or concerns. Your generosity and commitment to the children and their families is greatly appreciated! Let us introduce you to Charlotte Boyle. Charlotte is originally a freelance kids clothes designer. She knows Samantha as their kids are in the same class. We reached out to her for help to get our new logo and in that way do a small rebranding of our salon. She started her career in her home country England, doing women’s wear.
She worked for iconic style legends such as Lulu Guinness and Cynthia Rowley. She then found her love of designing children's clothes while working with the ever stylish Lucy Sykes and her children's brand ‘Lucy Sykes Baby’. From there she moved on to Baby Togs where she worked on their private label’s for clients such as Nicole Miller, O’Neill, Dr Seuss, Kmart & Sears. She is now running her own business where she is helping companies large and small with getting the right look, fit and feel of their brand. Her clients include Under the Nile, Jelly the Pug, Nested Bean and now also Shear Serenity Salon. She has also done good by designing a non profit collection for Oja Moon and all the proceeds go into running an orphanage in Katmandu Nepal. The inspiration for the logo came from Samantha's flowers from Heather & Birch that she displays in the salon. It creates a nice atmosphere in the salon, so Sam and Charlotte worked on recreating that also in the logo. We are very proud of the result, and feel like we finally got a logo that represent us and the style we like. Thank you, Charlotte! Samantha started her business with Stella and Dot in December 15th, 2015 and never looked back. She wanted to carry a fashionable and affordable boutique line in her salon without having to house inventory at the same time, and fell in love with this brand instantly. Stella and Dot is a great company because of the way it supports women in their business. One example is their support of the global charity called “Every Mother Counts”, that is dedicated to make pregnancies and childbirths safe for every mother around the world. Along with supporting amazing charity work, Stella and Dot is a trendy, classic, and always in style line of jewelry with a broad selection of accessories “to give every woman the means to style their own life.” Samantha recommends any women to become a sales representative because of what stella and dot stands for, or just support it by buying beautiful quality pieces, affordable products and classic style. She says Stella and Dot has given her an unique chance to meet new people and form new relationships in the business world and in her personal life. In fact her latest addition to the Stella and Dot team is the salon's very own Jenna Garbus! Check out the latest pieces next time you visit our salon, or contact Samantha directly for more info.
